Live the Dream

June 10, 2009

My friend opened her brand new bed and breakfast this week after dreaming about it and pursuing it for 25 years (Bed and Breakfast on Tiffany Hill near Asheville).  I mean, she chased the dream hard:  she became a certified innsitter to learn the business; she found a mentor; 10 years ago she started a Dreambuilders fund and allowed friends and family to invest money toward a room at her inn that didn’t even exist (the money went to escrow), she formed an advisory board.  Then she got kicked out of the corporate world, and two years ago, started to heavily pursue her dream and purchased land in a new town, hours from where she was living.  One year ago, she broke ground on her B&B and June 5 it became a reality when she officially opened the doors and became an innkeeper.   Got me thinking, do I have a dream?  Like really, do I have a dream?  I have lots of things I’d like to do and accomplish but was convinced that I did not have a dream. Then it came to me.  I do have a dream and it feels impossible. Wonder if it will take 25 years to become reality.  I pray it doesn’t.

Do you have a dream?

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
